If you don't have time for a planned walk, try to add as much walking as you can to your daily life. This can be done by:
- parking a few blocks from work, school, or the store.
- Take the stairs when you have the option.
- You can also take a quick walk around the block on your breaks from tasks or work.
New research published in Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association reports that 2+ hours of walking per week (especially at a brisk pace) can reduce a woman's risk of stroke. Although this research was specific to women, walking most likely has a similar health benefit for men.
